Three killed in wrong-way crash on I-96 near Marne

WRIGHT TWP. — Three people were killed early Friday in a wrong-way crash on I-96 in eastern Ottawa County.
According to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to reports of a wrong-way driver heading west in the eastbound lanes of I-96.
Deputies arrived around 3:25 a.m. to find a two-vehicle head-on crash just west of exit 23, near Marne. Both vehicles were mid-size SUVs.
Deputies said the wrong-way driver, alone in his car, was a 24-year-old man from Clyde. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The two occupants of the other vehicle also died at the scene. The driver was a 53-year-old woman and the front-seat passenger a 50-year-old man, deputies said. Both were from Muskegon.
The crash remains under investigation.
